About the event

The goal of this tuition-free 16-hour Multijurisdictional Counterdrug Taskforce Training course is to provide the

military and law enforcement investigator with the knowledge and skills to develop and conduct successful

information-gathering for all aspects of transnational criminal investigations. The concepts of interviewing and

interrogation come packaged in many different forms and under many different names in today’s investigative

environment. This class brings these elements to the forefront and when applied interactively with ongoing

experience, it will enable the participants to greatly increase their success rate for obtaining information related to

terrorism, transnational drug operations and counter terrorism financial investigations.

  • Interrogations: The Human Response
  • Interview Guidelines
  • Verbal Analysis: Listening for Clues
  • Verbal Content: Encoding / Decoding
  • Behavioral Analysis: Verbal / Non-verbal
  • Defense Proof Interrogations

Instructor Matt Episcopo knows that the real way to become effective at law enforcement is to build trust, credibility, and master the art and science of communication. Captain Episcopo, (Ret.) is an expert in Interview and Interrogation. As a Certified Police Instructor, he is highly regarded for his Interview and Interrogation, Death Investigations, and Supervisory/Leadership Courses. A visionary, Captain Episcopo set precedence in his agency by forming the first Criminal Investigative Unit, the first Narcotics K9 Unit, Voice Stress Analyzer Program, and many other efforts as he rose through the ranks. In recognition of his contributions, Captain Episcopo has served on DMORT: Disaster Mortuary Operations Response Team and was deployed to Hurricanes Katrina & Rita and the Flight 3407 crash. In addition, Captain Episcopo served on a Federal Biometrics Technology Work Group. He is Certified in Scientific Content Analysis (SCAN), Certified Examiner – Voice Stress Analyst and Criminal Investigative Analysis. Since his retirement, Captain Episcopo has expanded his repertoire of teaching others as a keynote speaker; training corporate and association groups in communication and leadership topics all around the world. He is a TedX Speaker and author of the book, “How To Gain The Upper Hand, POWER Tactics That Get Leaders Results”. Honors include the Medal of Honor, Meritorious Service, Gallantry Star for Bravery, and numerous other awards and citations. With more than 21 years of law enforcement experience and 30 years of instructing local, state, and federal personnel, Captain Episcopo will teach you the art and science of interview and interrogations.
