Goals & Program Strategies
ORS pursues its mission through four overarching goals:
Share: Develop and formalize data‑sharing partnerships and systems to enable real‑time situational awareness and to inform rapid, effective prevention efforts.
Support: Provide immediate, evidence‑based responses that can directly reduce overdose deaths, such as targeted naloxone distribution and medication‑assisted treatment.
Design: Develop and implement promising strategies at the intersection of public health and public safety—examples include pre‑arrest diversion programs, drug courts, post‑overdose outreach and compassion‑fatigue support for first responders.
Disseminate: Share information and training resources to help agencies and communities implement evidence‑informed overdose‑prevention strategies.
